Review on Geekworm Raspberry Pi 4 Case by Maggie Bortolussi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great with some modifications

I bought this assuming the included thermal pads/adhesive would not be needed. With that in mind, I experimented with thermal paste as a replacement and accidentally added a small 30mm fan to blow over the top of the case (see below). Generally I see 25-28C at low CPU usage (2-10% CPU usage) at an ambient temperature of 20C and I'm happy with the result. Here's what I did: 1. Clean the heatsink contacts and chips with isopropyl alcohol.2. Apply plenty of thermal grease (some old Arctic Silver MX-2 I had on hand) to ensure the air gap between the chips and the heatsink is filled. Many will argue about the effectiveness of the paste and caulk/adhesive, especially with this gap size. I cannot claim its superiority as it was an experiment.3. Install the case carefully to minimize spilling thermal grease into unwanted areas.4. A spare 30mm fan is attached to the 3.3V GPIO header to provide airflow to the processor area of the case. The case looks well made. Mine goes very well with the Pi 4 B. The packaging is unfussy but the product is excellent quality.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
