Review on 🌞 Enhanced Adjustable Solar Panel Mounting Brackets with Folding Tilt Legs for Boat, RV, Roof Off Grid - 22-inch Length by Colin Zilinskas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Thick aluminum with many mounting options.

They would get five stars if they had a more convenient tilting method. Fumbling around on the roof with washers and thumbscrews is no fun at all. I'm going to retrofit mine with dowel pins on the corners. The aluminum is thick-walled and the drill holes are well finished, you won't cut yourself. There are enough holes and slots to allow you to make any tilt/mount combination imaginable. The hardware/thumbscrews are not stainless steel so expect them to rust after a while. If I replace the two tilt screws with stainless pins, they rust less. I like the more space under the panels when they are in the down position. This helps cool the air from below and keeps my rubber roof from getting too hot as the original brackets with my panels are only about 3/4 inch from the roof and you can barely tuck tightening tools underneath. I did an experiment, measuring the power output of my panels lying horizontally with the original mountings on a clear day, 11am, the second week of February. A total of 4.2 amperes were measured in the converter. The next day after installing the swivel mounts, 11am on a clear day, the converter is now getting 11.2 amps. I'm sold on Tilt. There are probably several reasons for the increase in performance, the first is the angle to the sun, the second and also important is the cooling effect when the back of the panels are exposed to free air circulation. Solar energy suffers greatly when the panels are hot. Now I can get all the morning and evening sun with my semi-flexible plastic tube sheets on the floor. I will be buying more of these mounts as I expand my battery and get more panels. If you had a good drill press and lots of time you could make them for half their cost, but building my own isn't worth my time.
