Plan ahead before using this product

After replacing the batteries in two (2) cars about 7 weeks apart I started looking for backup storage to keep my current to supplement the system. The current system is a charger with a smooth battery current connected to the power connector plug. I thought Powerbuilt Computer Memory Keeper would be a compact alternative. The item has arrived in good condition. Tested output at 9-volt (9.03V) battery assembly and tested output voltage at 8.62V outlet adapter (approximately 65% of a fully charged six (6) cell lead-acid battery at 2.2V cell or 13, 2 V for new battery output). It's better to understand why some users are reporting that the device failed to save storage settings. I'm not sure where different car manufacturers' electronics have their minimum voltage settings, but I suspect 8.6V is close to or below their requirement to maintain the settings. I haven't tested the output voltage when connected to the vehicle's power connector, but I suspect it may be lower than the measured voltage due to the connector's surface corrosion resistance. It is best to combine this with a 12V power supply (a battery tender such as the Schumacher SC-1 at the Big Box Store - Dark Blue for $9.84 or a stack of eight (8) 1.5V batteries on each output (8x1 0.5 = 12 volts) For $9.59 for the Powerbuilt unit and $9.84 for the SC-1 charger Only $19.43 before tax which is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the 12 available in stores -Volt computer storage devices.
