Solid performance, flexible and beautiful appearance.

I don't review much of what I buy, only electronics that are of exceptional quality and/or have had a long and healthy tinkering experience. It's safe to say that this device ticks both the boxes. I've been using this product for a little over 2 1/2 years and it has proven to be reliable. With great build quality and simple looks, it's the perfect companion for MBPro (it's my desktop until I unplug it and go to the library). It's been a faithful companion, powering my 34-inch LG monitor (34UM95) as well as a host of peripherals. Using a TB2 connection I connect a monitor (3440 x 1440), RJ45 with cable modem and AUKEY with 4 ports. USB hub for extra flexibility for my USB sticks. In addition, LG M-DISC and a Seagate 2 TB external hard drive for Time Machine. They are all mounted on the back of the device, which helps with cable management (tidy). There's an easy-to-access 3.5mm headphone audio jack on the front, as well as a convenient USB 3.0 fast-charge port on the front where I have a short 5-inch USB-to-micro-USB connector that I almost exclusively for my Logitech. a wireless rechargeable mouse and/or my wireless headphones that I take with me when I travel. I don't have a 4K monitor (yet) so I can't confirm that possibility, but I haven't had any issues with my current setup.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Annoying
