This is the thinnest Defender case I've ever owned. I've been using the Defender since 3GS. My last iteration was for X. There have been a few good and bad versions over the years, but this one is good. It's 1/8 inch thinner than the X version. They've also reduced the side protrusions while maintaining a larger screen protrusion at the top or bottom, making it easier to view each screen from the side. The buttons also seem easier to press than the X version. The only downside to the case I've found so far is the access to the mute switch. I don't blame Otterbox too much for this. Apple has raised the switch's position from what I'm used to on the X, putting it very close to the hard shell of this case, making it difficult to put it on silent mode. Muting to Normal is still easy.
