Cute but. - my new review

These are adorable but not effective as a slow watering device. I used coffee filters wrapped around the stem to keep the dirt from getting in the stem and bird. Inserting it on an angle allows air to get in so that it will drip. However the water had all gone out in about an hours time. I bought them to keep the top layer of dirt dry to prevent fungus gnats. I think they will work for that. They will not work for vacation watering or leaving your plants for a long time without water.
