This is a sturdy litter box, the quality is very good, no joke. We have three cats in our home and at first we purchased just one to see if the cats would like the box, they started using it immediately the first day, no problem. This litter box can be used with the side entry or you have the option to block the side entry and only use it as a top entry.The box comes with both styles of the liner bags, for the side entry and for top entry only, so you can pick and choose.For older cats, I would use it with side entry. The litter box is easy to assemble and there are instructions with pictures that you can follow. The construction of the box is made of very good plastic, the top is very nice and sturdy. I clean my litter boxes every day, I believe it is a must when it comes to having happy cats, sometimes I clean 2 times a day.
