These sponges were originally good for cleaning dishes in the kitchen and other things in the sink. They appeared to be comparable in performance to a proprietary sponge. Unfortunately, they are just short-lived and wear out just like the more expensive brand sponges. After just a few uses, we kept getting blue dots in the soapy water and realized it was blue from the rough surface of the sponge. This was only the case when washing regular dishes, so the sponge should not wear out quickly. Notice in the picture that the blue has been wiped off by the sponge and the mound of blue plastic in the center of the mixing bowl (the water has swirled around, concentrating any residue in the center). They are now referred to as "basement sponges" and are intended for in-sink use only. Unfortunately when I bought 24 of them!
