Review on Sennhesier MX685 Adidas Sports Headphones by Angela Murphy

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as safe as the old model (MX 75). The earbuds fall off and cannot be replaced!

I was proud to own the sporty MX 75s for three reasons: they looked good (bright green), they didn't pop out of my ears when I ran, and they didn't block out outside noise. as in-ear headphones usually do (which I find dangerous when running or cycling). Unfortunately, repeated use has worn down the connector in the headphone jack and every few weeks I've had to repair the jack or adjust the fraying wires. So I gave in and bought this newer version as the MX 75 is no longer on the market. The sound quality is more or less the same. Still causes a bit of pain after a few hours of wearing, but as they're designed for movement and not comfort (which I have a different pair of headphones for), this isn't a particular concern. What worries me is that they keep falling out of my ears! With old headphones, all you had to do was choose the right size earhook the very first time you put it on, and then you could just rotate them every time you put them on. These new ones have to be shifted EVERY time you put them on and they still fall out of my ears after I adjust them. In addition, earplugs often fall off and get lost. I've only had these headphones for a few months but I've already used up all the extra cases that came with the headphones. This was also a problem on older MX 75s, but you could buy replacement bushings from the Sennheiser website. It's not like that anymore. Without attachments, headphones are more uncomfortable and fall out of the ears twice as often. I bought these headphones for sport but now it looks like they need to be upgraded to stationary use.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
