Review on Ultimate Wireless Controller Adapter: Nintendo Switch/Switch OLED, Windows, Mac & Raspberry Pi - Includes OTG Cable by Ari Tanner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Picky, but ultimately still useful. PC + Console User Experience

What to Expect: Firmware update (easy and painless, but requires a PC) and a Switch option to use with the Switch. There is a sticker on the device itself indicating which option should be changed in the switch menu. Try spending some time setting up this game on PC. Every time you plug this thing into your computer, it should work, which I'll get into in more detail below. When connected to a PC it immediately makes a burst of sound, I assume this is normal but this is not described anywhere. This device appears as an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. I immediately had problems with this device. I bought it as an alternative to the PS4 wireless PC receiver (about $60!). At first it failed to connect to my PS4 controller. I had to check on Reddit why: - You need to prevent Steam from starting at boot, close Steam, restart, THEN plug in the adapter - Steam somehow interrupts these drivers. Disappointment was user error. There are excellent instructions for pairing and customizing each and every supported controller. I'm sorry I'm stupid. I'll list the pros and cons next, I won't list features listed as pros or cons PROS: -Wide use case, great compatibility, shocks me -Cute design - Actually works (in the end) CONS: - Disappointing PC- Setting - Ugly Theme - Custom Workarounds (One user received an email to support telling them to just close Steam so they know) - Does NOT let audio through the controller. Since it behaves like an XBOX 360 controller, there is no audio pass-through, at least not on a PC with a PS4 controller. It's entirely possible on consoles as it supports things like SixAxis and Gyro and other obscurities. CONCLUSION: I think the overall rating of 4 stars for this product is reasonable as I will have plenty of it if it doesn't break. Once the agonizing setup is complete and you understand its features, I'm happy with my purchase. If anyone has any questions about using this adapter, please leave a comment on this review and let me know.
