It has turned dark brown. The leather is very soft, fits well after adjustment and is barely noticeable when walking. Very comfortable and of course the leather is a timeless look. I like that the buttons on the front pocket are magnetic. A few minor issues: The zippers seem to bind a bit when you actually put things in the backpack. When it's empty it's fine, but once I put my phone and keys in the main compartment I have to fumble with the zipper to close it. Plus, once you put it on, the back pocket is virtually inaccessible until you take it off or unclip it. So don't put anything in it that you need to be able to reach comfortably. Finally, with a small waist, I found the extra strap just dangled in the wind, which is pretty awkward. I'll probably just add a small hair tie to each strap to hold them in place. I have a 32" waist and about 10" extra belts (5 on each side).
