Like many others, I was able to choose between BabyBjorn and Guava. I did a lot of research so this is going to be a long review. :) First let me say that you really can't go wrong. Personally, I was looking for a travel cot, not so much for travel, but simply as a replacement for my old backpack and games that I no longer wanted to keep because I wanted to get rid of all my FR retardant children's gear. From my research, BabyBjorn Travel Crib Light, Guava Lotus, and Nuna Sena are the only FR substitutes currently on the market. The benefit of the Nuna Sena is that it looks more like a traditional cot as it has two tiers (one for the newborn) rather than being on the floor like travel cots. It's also bulky like a normal backpack and not as easy to carry. The Sena is also the most expensive choice at $250. It's also bulky like a normal backpack and not as easy to carry. You can find Guava for $189 on their website, while Bjorn averages $219-$250 here at Revain. I bought Björn first because I couldn't resist the thicker mattress that everyone was admiring. I will say this is a VERY good travel cot. It is beautifully made, very easy to put on and take off and the mattress is very comfortable as others have said. Björn has a slightly smaller footprint (see photo. Feet don't stick out as much as Guava). The mattress is slightly wider than Guava (see photo). The mesh of the travel cot narrows as it reaches the top of the cot, making the top opening smaller than the guava (see slightly more closed than the guava). Same goes for guava.) I've seen a few reviews saying it's polyethylene, but it's not. Also, Bjorn is not entirely made in Sweden. It says the fabric is made in China and the crib is "made" in Sweden. Textiles are Oeko Tex certified, which means that the materials used have been tested and certified for certain parameters. Harmful substances tests include: Legally banned and controlled substances, chemicals known to be harmful to health (but not yet regulated by law). ) Health parameters Guava is not currently Oeko-Tex certified but Green Guard Gold certified Bjorn is a clear winner for you if: 1. Your baby will sleep a lot in the cradle as the mattress is definitely thicker and softer than Guava. I would also say it has a slight quality advantage over guava, but not by much. There are currently no accessories for Björn. It folds compactly into a suitcase, while the Guava folds into a backpack. Guava lotus is another good choice for a non-toxic travel cot. I emailed the company and they said they are looking into Oeko-Tex certification but are currently Green Guard Gold certified. I was told "GreenGuard Gold Standard which tests the actual product in a sealed chamber for 7 days to ensure no harmful outgassing occurs." The Guava mattress is about twice as thin as the Bjorn and slightly firmer. Some people might even prefer a firmer mattress for their child, so that's fine. I would still say the mattress is better than the standard Pack N Play mattress. Guava is made in China which is a bummer. But what's going on?! I appreciate that Guava is a small California based company and I have been pleased with the customer service I have received from them so far. Things that will make Guava a clear winner for you: 1. You travel a lot and want to ENSURE you can take your cot as carry-on luggage (in my experience, airlines have always delivered my giant pack for free, but according to other reviewers, that's not always the case), so I guess I'm lucky ;)). 2. You want to use it as a play area (Bjorn has a narrower top, making it a more claustrophobic play area. Guava also creates a "fun shade" that turns the crib into a fun play area that can be used outdoors. 3 Her Baby wakes up when trying to lie down (with these travel mattresses, it's a long way to the mattress and sensitive babies will definitely wake up walking down the stairs!) The guava has a zip opening that allows you to lie down gently 4. Nurses your baby to sleep Zipper opening allows mom to lie down with baby if needed 5. Have back pain, short or use cot for grandparents house..My mom is 69 years old, about 5 Feet 1 inch tall and hated Bjorn because she could barely bend down to pick my son up or put him down.Zaste Guava's zipper solves that problem again . Did you make it through this review?! I hope this helps someone as I tried to cover some areas that other reviewers didn't. I ended up bringing Björn back because I wanted the cot to be primarily a safe place to play at home, where I could put my baby when I had to do something around the house. One final note: American Baby Pack n Play fits either mattress and is a lot cheaper than those made specifically for each crib. :) Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try to answer.
