Overall quality is good. The book is a thick plastic paper with a stapled binding. The handle is also of good quality and will last up to my 3 year old. The biggest problem with a book is that either a child has to be able to read it or an adult has to read it aloud. I was really hoping for a good, independent study in silence, but it was NOT. Another issue I had is that unlike others in the HotDot family, the pen only glows green and not red, so there's no feedback on wrong answers. If they "mark" the wrong answer or miss the correct answer far enough, they get the same feedback (nothing).
