We have an old and worn (and repeatedly patched) awning on our motorhome. I was always nervous when the wind started flapping the awning. These "distractors" work great. Since I'm very worried about our old tonneau cover tearing at the RV's edge attachment point, I bought two more sets for a total of six brackets (three on each side). Now I only worry if the wind gets so strong that the problem is in the entire "sail" of the canopy. Flapping at the edges is now a thing of the past. A note on usage: I don't pull them as tight as I could when laying them on the fabric. I've found that if they play a little, they work themselves out in difficult situations. Something like a built-in purge valve. If things get that bad, I think it's time to throw a canopy. If you have healthy cap tissue and really want the deflapper to stay on, twist it! They will last (although your tent may not).
