Review on Game console Sony PlayStation 5 825GB SSD RU, white by Kio West ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are several shortcomings, in principle, it corresponds to the norm.

Design for an amateur - PS5 is huge, tall, unusual shape. Got pros: Modern powerful console. Pretty quiet. There are exclusive games that you can't play anywhere except on the PlayStation 5. You can increase the internal storage by installing an M.2 NVMe SSD drive (this does not incur any speed penalty, contrary to Sony's claims of a super-fast built-in SSD). Cons below: Let's objectively compare with the Xbox Series X/S. Sony doesn't have an Xbox Game Pass equivalent of 400+ games, many of them of excellent quality (PSNow offers very few titles). Set a decent budget for games right away. Plus, AAA games on PS5 are more expensive than last generation. PS5 does not have a "developer mode", it is impossible to install third-party software other than what is presented in their store. Why is this needed? You can install any kind of apps on Xbox by activating developer mode (one-time fee 20 USD)—install the RetroArch emulator and you can successfully play thousands of games from PS1/PS2/PS3/Dreamcast/Nintendo 64/GameCube/etc. Thus, the Xbox Series has backward support for games starting with the Xbox 360, plus emulation (plus the ability, in principle, to download anything that is relevant for programmers). PS5 only has backwards support for PlayStation 4 games. The PS5 cooling system is slightly worse and noisier than that of the Xbox Series X. At the same time, the performance is slightly lower (the filling is about the same, but the difference is in the frequencies of the CPU, GPU, and the number of CU units in the GPU). PS5 does not support VRR / FreeSync (analogue of G-Sync) and Dolby Vision (which is relevant in my case - LG OLED TV). The bandwidth of the HDMI 2.1 port has been cut - only 32 Gb / s versus 40 Gb / s for the Xbox Series X - 4K 120 Hz with HDR in full 4: 4: 4 mode will not be received, there will be 4: 2: 2 color compression. In addition to technical shortcomings, I can not help but notice such a nuance - look carefully at Sony's exclusives in recent years. Increasingly, women are portrayed as ugly and masculine, and men as stupid. If you choose a prefix for a child/teenager, think about the impact such games will have on his worldview (although, of course, do not forget about the age limit of games, it is unreasonable for a child to buy 18+ games). This trend has been around for a long time and affects the entire industry, but in the case of PS4/5 exclusives, the situation is noticeably worse.
