The key making and unlocking program can be done by almost any locksmith, but the VW dealer keeps their special key PIN secret. Without proper programming, the anti-theft feature will activate and the vehicle will be disabled. After I went to the dealer to program it, they couldn't get the trunk release button to work with that key. I still have an original working key fob so it will make a good replacement that will still open the doors and work in the ignition. NOTE: The key fob is missing the VW logo emblem.
