Pros: Large size and speed Cons: I had trouble with the initial install because I followed the instructions to download the update. After I did this, the drive turned off after about 2 seconds. Finally, I deleted all WD files, restarted the laptop, and restarted - this time with the old driver. Since then I do not have problems anymore. The speed is phenomenal. I very quickly copied all my laptop files (except system files) to a small WD. However, I wrote to customer service some time ago about an issue with the driver version and didn't get a reply, which makes me wonder about their actual "maintenance". (No, I haven't called and will if I have further problems. I should add that I'm running an older version of OSX (Mavericks OSX 9.5.5) so maybe the new WD driver is designed to handle that it works with newer mac systems .one note be sure to order the WD drive that fits your operating system i have a mac and also have one for my husband which runs on a pc btw he loves it We don't make automatic backup copies of them because we don't keep our computers on all the time.
