I've always liked scooping ice cream with your palm instead of your thumb because it's quicker and less awkward. It can also be helpful for those who have joint problems in their hands. I know they're stainless steel because they haven't blistered from the chrome plating and haven't rusted from months of almost wet daily use. The springs are strong, not spring.
