I read a selection of all reviews from one to five stars. Many reviewers commented that the scissors are stiff. They are a little tight when you first open them, but I just kept opening and closing them and it worked on its own, but a bit of oil will solve that problem too, just make sure you use it well dry so you don't stain fabric. I would cut off a piece of exercise cloth first to make sure the oil doesn't stain. These are high quality scissors. Very impressive. The blades are sharp and cut cleanly. It should be noted that these are large scissors. They're great for cutting a large piece of fabric, but if you're cutting a project with small cutouts like circles or stars, and you want a pink or jagged edge, I would use smaller scissors for this, although I actually use them to cut out small circles. You just need to be patient and pin the circle you cut out onto the fabric or draw a circle on the wrong side of the fabric. I got her to cut a very pretty red velvet plush. Velvet leaves a jagged edge if you don't use garland scissors, and with it, the edges come out clean with no fraying. Very beautiful. I got the comfort grip and I'm glad I did, because it's a heavy pair of scissors and the comfort grip is only about a dollar more so choosing between a regular grip and this one was a no brainer.
