design error! - no indication, open or closed

This glass looks beautiful. I bought it because it has a small hook for my tea ball and is insulated. The insulated part is great - keeps drinks hot for a long time. It also retains liquid well. However, the MAIN design flaw. There is no indication whether it is sealed or opened for drinking. Every time I drank tea I had a 50/50 chance if it was open or closed. To solve this problem I had to tip the cup to the ground to see if anything squirted out. It's supposed to be leakproof, which it is about 80% of the time. When I talk about tightness, I think I can throw it in a bag and NOTHING will come out of it. I could count on it not spilling entirely, but if I knocked over the covered jar it would still spill a drop or two, which is two drops too many while I'm in my work bag :( Besides, it does The top comes apart into about 5 pieces so you can clean each piece. After I cleaned it the first time it sat on my account for weeks because I couldn't figure out how to put it back together. What was real the last straw?was when one day after boiling tea water in a kettle, I took the mug in my hand and got to work, but when I bent down to take some, boiling water flowed out of the glass and burned my hand! was sealed but then again, NO indicator to show if it was sealed or not was a big problem! I've since gone back to my trusty Costco Contigos! They're not as stylish, but what a difference! Snap button AND locking button! Pictures from my burning day and 10 days after.
