Pros: 1. It is convenient to use only one 3.0 port on your laptop to work for both smart card reader and memory card reader. Cons: 1. Speeds are boring. After several tests with cards that could consistently read 90 MB/s and write 30 MB/s on other card readers, I was more than disappointed to find that this card reader increased the read speed to 22 MB/s (below the USB specification 2.0) limited and writing speed. at 13 MB/s (FAR below the USB 2.0 specification). The smart card reader is what I originally used and it seems to work fine, but unfortunately I didn't test the card reader until I exceeded the return policy. See appendix for actual speed test results. I've been able to consistently reproduce these results on multiple USB 3.0 ports. It's also not a setting for my computer, as other devices with the same ports run at or near the speeds listed. 100% NOT RECOMMENDED.
