Don't listen to people who say you can't fully compress them. Yes, spring is strong, but not THAT strong. Simply lean one end against the back of the drawer, squeeze and slide inward. Easy. I would fold my clothes but keep them away and they would be fine. But then, after a few days, they would turn into a huge mess where everything would get mixed up. I realized it was because I put my clothes in a drawer. I couldn't see everything so I dug which ended up turning everything into a crappy show. So I bought a couple of these divers. As a result, two pieces in each box. I seriously should have done this many years ago. All of my clothes are organized, neat, beautiful and highly visible. I'm damn happy. The spring is very strong, but you should have no trouble squeezing it to snap the divider back into the drawer. One set had an odd smell but the rest were fine. Bamboo wood is beautiful and looks great in a drawer. Once inside, they become stable and secure.
