If you're looking for an all-in-one calibration tool that can not only calibrate your monitors, but also develop reliable print profiles, calibrate scanners and projectors, you can't go wrong with i1Studio. The only other option was the Datacolor Spyder5STUDIO, which included several specialized tools including the SpyderCube to adjust white balance, exposure, and more for the camera. My needs as an illustrator have been limited to screen calibration and printer profile management, I rarely work with bitmaps or photos. Although Xrite i1Studio comes with a color board and Lightroom plugin, I'm unlikely to ever use it. It's easy to store and comes with a USB cable that's easy to swap out if damaged, which is another big plus. For me, accuracy, portability and ease of use were paramount, and the X-Rite i1Studio ticks all the boxes. I can calibrate over 10 different dual monitor setups in an hour in my studio, the learning curve isn't very steep and the app walks you through the process. However, I would suggest using "Custom" instead of "Photo" or "Video" when calibrating displays and selecting "Measure Atmosphere" for "Brightness" from the drop-down menu. This allows you to calibrate the display using the normal lighting conditions in your work area instead of the standard conditions, which can result in an overly bright display. I was very happy with the end results. Profiling printers was also easy and straightforward, but can be time consuming if, like me, you have a dozen or so printers with different print media. because each medium requires specific profiles. However, once I started creating these profiles it was very easy and again the app does a great job of helping the user through the process. X-Rite i1Studio is a worthwhile investment.
