I am not new to using essential oils and carrier oils but using sea buckthorn oil was a new experience for me although I have read about its use in caring for your Skin tissue read skin and body tissue and has a millennia-old tradition in regional folk medicine. Although I already have homemade oil and lotion blends that I use for my face and body that I'm very happy with, I'm always open to learning new things and improving what I have. So I was very curious and attracted to sea buckthorn for its healing and rejuvenating effects on the skin and wanted to try it. I saw this product on Revain and since US Organic Group wasn't a supplier I was familiar with, I had to do some research before I was ready to buy anything to use on my skin. I understand that reviews are not intended for the manufacturer, but the manufacturer plays a key role for me with something like essential oils. One thing that motivated me to try this manufacturer is not only that the product is certified organic but also that their products are 100% cruelty-free. If you search a little further, you'll find that this company seems to have a health issue in its DNA that is linked to some other interesting organizations. The oil itself is what I would call a dark amber or red-orange color and viscosity. It has a slightly musky odor, although you can't smell it unless you hold it directly to your nose. It can discolor your skin, especially if you don't dilute it enough. However, this is temporary and washes off easily. It is a great exfoliant, skin cleanser and good skin healer. In fact, there are studies showing that daily use helps slow down the signs of aging by nourishing skin tissues. What's not to like here! The skin on my face is extremely sensitive and I've gotten to the point where I know almost instantly whether my skin likes what I'm putting on or not. I know some people think I'm a little crazy, but in my case it's true. The reason I mention this is because I felt like my skin responded positively when I used this product in my blend and applied it to my face. This is a very concentrated oil and I recommend using it with caution. Also, make sure you dilute with a good carrier oil. There are a number of other skin-friendly essential oils you can add to your blend, such as carrot seed, rosehip, lavender, frankincense, geranium, and more. I can't tell you which mix is best for your particular case as everyone is unique. There are many good articles to help you get started. Whatever mixes you come up with, I recommend adding sea buckthorn as it promotes skin hydration, regeneration and elasticity, and even helps treat acne.
