Ace Comb in Name Only

I've been using the Ace Fine pocket comb for at least 30 years (79 years) and now it's missing a few teeth. I ordered a few of these to have some for the future as I'm tossing an old comb in my holdall and figured it wouldn't last as long as I did. Well, the old combs glide smoothly and comfortably through my hair and scalp, but the "new" aces feel like mini lawn rakes on my head. They don't even cost $2.46 each. I bought them for. The scavenger gets it next week. Offshore to China. Where or where have the hard rubber combs gone?
