My waterfront patio has been exposed to sun and rain for 10 years. Even though I look great, I can't stay outside because it's too hot during the day and too cold at night. I installed a soft top beforehand. It was ugly and flimsy, fell apart in the wind after 2 years. This canvas fabric is the same as a parasol, very durable. Also, I really like the included accessories - cable ties. It made the installation a breeze. I highly recommend buying this product to make installation very easy: TERMATH 12 pcs. Stainless Steel Ceiling Hook Ring Hook 1.8" Eyelet Eyelet Plate, Marine Hardware Shackle Hook Loop with Screws How I installed it in about 1 hour: 1. I tied ropes to 4 corners of the canvas.2. Drag the canvas to the top of the frame. You need a stick to poke the canvas to move the canvas from below.3. Pull and tie the canvas at 4 corners so you have a sturdy canvas to work with. Otherwise it will move, especially on a windy day.4. Now you can easily visualize where the hooks should go.5. The position of the hooks should be a little wider than the size of the canvas to help you stretch it evenly.6. Install the first 2 rows of hooks (parallel), then tie the canvas to the hooks with cable ties.7. Then attach the hooks to the other two sides and tie the canvas. FYI I put the hooks on the side of the wall a little higher to allow the water to drain. If you have the necessary tools - a drill and a high ladder, the work can be done in 1-2 hours. Flat, well stretched, durable, beautiful coating. Immediately after attaching the canvas, I immediately felt the difference. The patio is much warmer in the early mornings and evenings because the heat is trapped within the patio instead of flowing freely up towards the sky. In addition, it is much cooler during the day because it completely covers the terrace with a thick cloth. I love this product especially when paired with marine grade hooks.
