HUGE arm holes are best for blankets and diapers

I bought these because I need an intermediate sleeping bag between the small halo sleeping bag (left) and the medium sleeping bag (right). My 3.5 months (17 lbs) is almost too long for the small Halo bag but the average size is insanely large and unsafe for sleeping. The hand holes on them are stupidly large (2nd/3rd photo), I don't understand this design feature. But this is exactly the size of the length I needed. Zippers are very cheap, but what do you expect at such a price? Update: I quickly added the armholes to make them about half the size. Annoying, but much safer
