As a kid I always wanted a racing slot but never got it. So, I may not know what I'm talking about; at least in terms of how this set compares to other sets. But from personal experience, I'm *amazed* at how this thing got *any* bad reviews. My not quite five year old son (who loves racing so much he claps his hands when he drives past *traffic*) loves it. It was very easy to set up and the USB connector fits right into the BESTEK USB hub that I own. ; on 1A, on 2A; no problem. Cars *puke* on the track. The controllers are very responsive: a light press is the equivalent of a bit of throttle, and a full press is the equivalent of hitting the ground (just don't expect it to fall around corners and fall by the wayside). It went so well that I want to buy additional kits to create our track. I recommend.
