My tap water is high in nitrates which is not good for me but also terrible for my aquarium. So when we got a whole house water softener and filter (we hate that water), I also have an R/O system under my kitchen sink. To remineralize and add kh to keep my pH stable, I took the plunge. It's easy to use, my R/O water is now stable (compared to when I bought distilled water and mixed it in my super hard pre-filter) and my plants are growing again! My fish are happy and now I'm hoping to get some shrimp (but this works just as well for a community tank as it does for a dedicated shrimp tank).
