ABOUT NOISE on desktop fans

I'm confused by photos of buyers of short fans with plastic case and backlight. The fan I ordered and received is a regular white fan with a 4 knob base, neck, bobble head, and wire mesh around three wide plastic blades. This is what I wanted to replace a very old fan with a very similar design. This fan looks very similar, even on the inside, which gives me hope that it will last many years, just like my old fan. I run my fan almost non-stop for white noise, tumble drying (hanging clothes in front of it) and air circulation. The first day or two that I ran it, it made a rather annoying high-pitched whine on low settings. (The mids and highs didn't make the same noise.) After that, the whining went away. It sometimes comes back for a short time, but it's not serious. It makes some other noises as well. THIS IS WHAT I WANT! When it vibrates it makes erratic noises which are great for masking erratic noises coming from outside, making it the perfect sleep sound generator in my opinion. I will update if anything changes. UPDATE: I ordered it almost a year ago. The fan has been running almost every day (and all day, several days in a row) for the last 10-11 months, almost exclusively at low speeds. He doesn't squeak or whimper anymore, I guess it was just a new fan thing. It produces a pleasant hum and soft clanking noise as it vibrates. There were no problems. It's like my old high quality fan. I am very comfortable.
