When I bought it, I didn't pay attention to MAGNETIC in the description. My 40 year old socket, modified for some special situations, is almost worn out, so I need a new one. Modern engine designs require a variety of tools and are believed to work well in most cases in the marine engine repair industry. When I first used them I found that they were magnetic to hold the spark plug in place. This works great for removing and installing the plug without dropping it, but I was concerned it would be easier to break the plug insulator without the insert. I remembered removing the insert from my old snapon plug because it was too tight and stuck to the spark plug and in some cases was difficult to remove. It also helped prevent accidental breakage of the insulator when I was in a hurry. The length is good for most situations and the maximum extension angle is also suitable for most cases. There is nothing perfect for all occasions. That's why I spend so much of my income on tools.
