I bought this particular brand (Vello) because it looked well made and its metal construction meant it could work with heavier lenses. I wanted to use my 4/3 lenses on an M4/3 camera (OMD-EM1). Package delivery took about a week. The product packaging looks nice and professional and the lens adapter looks nice and well built, just like I imagined. I plugged the adapter into the EM1 housing and found it to fit snugly. When it snapped in, there was only a little back and forth play, maybe about 1/16" like the m4/3 kit lens I have, so I didn't think about it since the m4/3 lens works great with EM1. I mounted a 12-60 4/3 lens on the adapter and it also fit well but no back and forth. at least I didn't notice it. The lens seemed to work well, except maybe it was a bit slower compared to the m4/3 lens, and sometimes when focusing on something with less contrast, it poked around a bit before coming into focus. It's more the lens itself than the adapter. The title of this review "But works" refers to the adapter working as it should, HOWEVER the initial spin play (adapter vs camera body) has a design flaw. . This is probably the same error I've read from manufacturers other than the Olympus brand. Whenever I rotate the 12-60 zoom ring to its maximum magnification (60mm), the zoom ring stops and causes the adapter to rotate about 1/. 16 inches too. In this case, the electronic contacts on the adapter will not match the contacts on the camera body. In this case, both the EVF and the LCD screen go black and you cannot see anything through the lens. Even turning the adapter back 1/16 inch does not solve the problem. I have to turn the camera off and on again to see through the lens again. I read that someone else using a different brand used tape to mount an adapter or lens. I didn't want to do this in case I had to change lenses, and I didn't want to constantly have to clean up the glue residue. What I did was find a thick rubber band and wrap it around the seam where the adapter attaches to the camera body and that seems to put enough pressure on the body and lens where the adapter barely turns when I do rotate the zoom ring into position. the most comprehensive zoom. So far I have only tested this 4/3 lens. Although I may need to keep a supply of rubber bands on hand. (laughs) I might try building some kind of rubber pad or thick rubber disk around the edge and pinching it when the rubber bands start to fail. If anyone has a better idea please let me know or include it in your review. So, in summary I'm glad I have the adapter but very annoyed by this issue. I could buy another brand with the same problem for a lot less than this one. When you buy a product, you hope that it will work as it should and that you don't need a workaround to make the product work properly.
