I love everything about it. I wanted a lighter tripod than the aluminum I had. But also one that had a large-diameter leveling base and a weight for shooting. Well, this tripod did both to the highest degree. The bare tripod wasn't exactly where the most weight savings were made. Much of the weight savings came from the leveling base, the QD plate and the mount used to connect the binoculars. Based on the old pan/tilt combo I'd say it's at least a pound short. This pound increases rapidly towards the end of the day.
