I switched to a trackball when the joints of my right hand began to ache distinctly from the mouse. Before that, I used only mice for many years. Retraining from the mouse took some minutes. Here this is facilitated by the fact that the design is "mouse", only the ball is added. At first, I occasionally "stuck" - I caught myself trying to move the device instead of rotating the ball. But it was infrequent and passed quickly. It is necessary to periodically remove the ball and clean it, the supports and the socket of the optical sensor. Without any fanaticism, just wipe with a dry cloth. The outsole is rubberized and works well on smooth surfaces. But on uneven (non-polished wood, embossed wood-like plastic) it moves, which is inconvenient. If you have such a table, you will have to put the trackball on a mouse pad or something specially placed. And one more thing: the body is quite high, so that the brush does not lift up, I personally bought a gel pad under the wrist. Really more convenient. Unlike a mouse, the trackball always stands in one place, so the wrist does not fidget on the pillow and you can choose the position that is most comfortable for your hand. But still, a trackball with a ball in the center is more convenient and more accurately positioned. I can compare, because at work I use the classic Kensington trackball. And one more thing: this thing is not suitable for dynamic games. At all. Although I read fans who played CS on the trackball, for me this is a clear overkill.
