My 8 year old purchased this with his bday money. We were super shocked at how sturdy it is! This is a great drone for beginners who are willing to practice. It took several hours of practice for our 8 year old to learn to fly it with the utmost control. For that reason, I think the recommendation for 12 and up on this product is reasonable. Our 8 year old only flew it in his room until he learned to fly it and control it well. Now he is outside flying it and utilizing the video with ease. The video quality is decent for the price. We downloaded the video app on an older android and are very pleased with the quality so far. My 8 year old can fly it with both the phone and the remote control. It handles well outdoors with minimal to no wind. It is wise to follow the recommendation for no flying outdoors on windy days. The only drawback we have found to this little drone is the battery life. It is lucky if he makes it for 30 minutes before a battery change. It does however come with 3 batteries so that is a plus. We highly recommend this sturdy little drone.
