I've had a Canon 10D for about 3 years and in that time I've shot over 12,000 shots for NASCAR racing, railroad photography, other sports and waterfalls. I have only ever used one memory card in this camera, a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II CompactFlash card. I have never lost a photo or had a typo on the card. I go hiking a lot and my camera (in my bag) dropped a few times and all the data was still there when I got home to upload photos to my computer. When I capture multiple images, it takes 9 images to fill the camera buffer. This thing writes without hesitation. I can shoot them all and start shooting again after a few seconds with a completely empty buffer (they're pretty fast cards). The card can store around 400 high/fine JPEGs at 10D (depending on ISO and other settings). I'll be buying a 5D soon so I'll probably upgrade to a 2.0GB Sandisk Ultra II CF because I take a lot of photos when I travel. And 1GB doesn't fit that much at 12.8MP and I can shoot in RAW too. For everyone else, I recommend Sandisk Ultra II CompactFlash cards. They're inexpensive and they work.
