Read the reviews and removing the R5 and R6 jumper only improved when connected to amplified sources vs headphones. Outputting to headphones still is touchy with the knob (4 stars because of this). It’s workeable if your using a DAC unit with a volume controller. Adjust the volume on the little bear and leave it, do all volume adjustments on your DAC or source.I’ve connected this in various configurations and noticed no audio quality drops. I did have to throw out cables that were bad and once thought somewhere in my components the static was being produced there. But thanks to the tinkering with this unit I determined cheaply made cables will kill your sound. Will purchasing some new cables from monoprice next.Overall happy with the unit just fix that dial or what is causing that jump in the sound at the very last turn of the knob.
