We bought this food slicer after another previous purchase that didn't work properly. The round piece of metal that scrapes the avocado is surprisingly thin, which is a big plus. Our other was plastic and too thick, so removing it only damaged the avocado. This metal easily removes flesh. I didn't use the smaller side to remove the core as I usually use a knife, cut it in half once and twist it like a screw to remove it. Hit the hole on the edge of the trash can and it will fly away. Works great. I would buy it again or buy it as a gift. Very durable, easy to clean, easy to use
