Tried it for the first time and here is what I did that worked for me: 1. Turn on the machine. Press the power button for 3 seconds and increase the temperature to 132. Use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature. Yes, the machine displays the temperature incorrectly. We measured the temperature in different places (side, bottom and top) and each of them showed a completely different number than the value of 132, hence 4 stars for the test. I lowered the temperature to 127 once all 8 blocks of wax had melted. Once you figure out which number is right for you, I'm sure this car will be fine. It took about 30 minutes to heat up 8 blocks (that was probably because we added 3 blocks in the middle of heating up the first 3 blocks). 2. Used a plastic bag instead of dipping hands or feet (like they do at the salon). If you don't trust the bags that come in the box like I do, use Target or a grocery bag (thicker).3. I used a plastic measuring cup and scooped the wax into a bag (like they do at the salon). It helped me apply the wax to my legs and arms. Squeeze the pouch to distribute the wax after tightening the pouch around the foot/arm. Husband made it himself. He was less temperature tolerant than me. If your nails have just been trimmed short, the heat will be more intense in those areas. My husband had just trimmed his nails and was complaining that the area under his nails hurts when the wax touches those areas. It is not recommended to use if you have a cut. The benefit of using a pouch is that as you remove the wax it becomes much easier to hold the small pieces. We used all 6 blocks and it worked for 2 feet and 3 arms. There are two legs and one arm left, but it looks like that will be all that covers 6 blocks. This is our first time so next time I'll be more mindful of how many spoons it takes for an arm and a leg so as not to waste as much wax as with dipping.
