There is some mesh on the top and they are GREAT for breathability. At the risk of giving too much information my feet get a little sweaty and after four hours in the sun I can safely say that these are the best pair of socks I have ever had. They seem small but they are mesh. They probably won't be suitable for winter weather for the same reason, but that's pure speculation.
