Please note that it is designed to float and has some sort of 'automatic speaker cleaning' feature which is meant to 'remove' water from the speaker. after diving, although it sounds pretty useless. I used it very infrequently for a little over a year - odd weekends here and there. Rarely had to charge. It looked great and the 'weather alert' feature came in handy once when I was outside with my young sons. Although it was intended to swim and dive underwater, I never had to test this feature. About a week ago the speaker stopped working for no reason. I never dropped it, nothing bad happened to it, seriously. Just stopped on the water in the middle of the day. Apparently it is still transmitting, but the sound from the speaker is zero. I found out about this during a regatta I was competing in when people seemed unresponsive to me. So. not sure. I will try to get my money back from Revain but now I wish I had bought it from this national boat store chain with the main direction in the name and not north, south or east because I know they will refund the money. my money for a new radio that I hope will last more than a year.
