I've had this router for 3 months now. When I first plugged it in 3 months ago it worked pretty well. Now it just sucks - it keeps turning off my Thinkpad. The range it offers is pathetic. That's it, no more Linux. I'd love to return it, but the pain of having to hang up with Linksys isn't worth the sixty dollars I paid for this useless thing. UPDATE: I found that this router doesn't work with some computers. if you use certain transmission methods. For example, my DELL laptop won't connect to the router (or get an IP address) when the router was set to channel 10 - switch to channel 2 and it works fine. UPDATE 2: THIS IS A GARBAGE ROUTER. Has worked fine for a few months. Then the name resolution fails from time to time. Translations are interrupted. Laptops lost connection. Then the DHCP server finally stopped working. Went back to my old Netgear. I'll have to throw it away - waste of time and money. I have over 14 years of tech experience so this is not a noob opinion. Too bad there weren't 0 stars. UPDATE 3: So I go to the Linksys website and try to get a warranty return, fill out forms, put in a detailed description, etc. Click the submit button and I'm told the company "listens to customer feedback." ' and decided dropped email support mail. Well VERY NICE - why the heck do people fill out all this info - and then the only option is to post on the forum so other users can help you. WOW, what a support model! Description of my problem: Wirelessly connected laptops started to drop connection frequently after a few months without any problems. The router has the latest firmware. Router rebooted/rebooted. I tried changing the channel. WiFi only 802.11g. Tried turning off encryption. Does not help - the problem has not disappeared. All I had to do was turn the laptop's wifi off and back on and I'd be fine for a couple of hours. I suffered because I didn't have time for customer service. Then yesterday the router stopped assigning IP addresses to laptops. Restarting laptops or routers didn't help. Devices that are connected via cable also do not receive an IP address from the router. I switched back to my old Netgear router and have no problems. I am very disappointed in the quality of this router - and would like to return the router for my money.
