This product does not recognize any hard drive type. Put the hard drive in the system and it sounds like it's starting up, but then nothing. Insert the same hard drive into your computer and it will be automatically recognized and you can see what's on the hard drive. I've tried old and new hard drives and the same thing happens, sounds like it's starting but you can't see the hard drive in windows explorer. It is very difficult to insert old discs into the device. You must work carefully and slowly with the washer to align the contacts. Once you've aligned everything, you won't be able to slide the drive in because the power connector won't fit through the drive's pins. New drives never boot no matter what slot you put them in.
