It was difficult to put on at first, but after the second one melted it was easy to install. I don't know if it's too tight but the original strap lasted a year, these straps melted in the same hour I received it. I have one left in case the one I have now hopefully doesn't melt. I have learned that this belt should not be used for vacuuming shaggy carpets or rugs as it will melt. Next time I'll try WD-40 to see if it gets smoother so it doesn't melt. I also find that if you put the side with the white numbers and letters inside, it doesn't melt as quickly.
