$$ worth if you prepare them properly

I took my main 3D printer apart to replace the guides. These aren't the cheapest rails, but they're certainly economical. They are very rough and filled with shipping grease from the factory. At first I thought they were useless. First spray the entire rail and block assembly with Brake Cleaner. This will remove most of the dirt. Then remove one of the red locking knobs, turn the rail over and carefully remove the carriage assembly with a towel or heavy rag. Then I would spray the bearings and lock them again with brake cleaner. At the moment the choice is yours - use the original bearing or replace it with a better one. I ordered two sets of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015RKOZ7G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 precision ball bearings. I took out the original balls and replaced them with THAT LOT of spare balls. Then I sprayed Super Lube 31110 (spray) into the block and worked the beads along the rail. Then apply a small amount of Super Lube 92003 Silicone Grease to the balls and track. (Trust me, a 3 ounce tube lasts for years!) I sprayed the rails with Super Lube and wiped them down with a clean cloth. Then I mounted the block back onto the rail. Slide the block back and forth and it should be as smooth as possible.
