They were actually easy to assemble and once assembled they look better than expected. You can't put anything on it because the panels will sag; they are a bit thin. However, as far as cube storage goes, it's a great device that packs a lot of [not too heavy] stuff. You can also remove the doors and use standard fabric drawers instead, which is another big plus. I docked the star because I bought it specifically for snaps and five of them broke while putting them together. The locking component is a plastic piece that fits into the mount anchor with a tiny plastic hook that sticks out. This hook breaks at the slightest pressure. I broke the five just as I was putting them together. Since then, two more have broken. Without them, the doors won't stay closed. So it was more of a disappointment. Otherwise it's a good device at a good price.
