I suppose they can work if you add laces, but the little flimsy velcro is just rubbish. You stay on nothing. Can't imagine what they would look like if actually played with, but even with brand new velcro that nothing sticks to, they just fall off. My 3 year old loves the rainbow, it's his "favorite color" so we bought him some rainbow stuff. These were by far the most disappointing shoes I've ever bought in my 7 years as a dad. If you buy these, you have to reckon with the fact that you will also need shoelaces for them.
