I know we're facing a shortage of computing components, including all the new big GPUs, but I definitely urge you to stay away from this 3090. My problems started right after I finished my new build in games like Halo MCC and GTA V. The computer was on. I haven't thought about it other than that it might be a software/driver issue so stayed away from Halo. I started playing GTA V and from time to time I would get the same black screen where the map was losing power/dying but everything else stayed on. This led me to believe it might be a hardware issue on the card. This went on for 3-4 weeks until finally one day last week it caught fire near the power connector on the board (you can see it in the picture). Thankfully my other components were fine, but as you can imagine I've completely lost confidence in any EVGA GPUs this generation. It's like I got my hands on another 3090 card. I highly recommend you stay away from EVGA 30 series cards until you figure out what's wrong with them. At the time of writing, EVGA has not yet acknowledged this as an issue, although many people have reported similar issues on their forums and subreddit.
