My wife and I buy new board games for the holidays each year based on how ridiculous they look and how many dice there are. Obviously it was suitable for dice, and the name made it ridiculous enough to pass the test. We spent about half an hour studying the instructions for the game and were quite apprehensive about playing at first. When we got to the actual implementation, it turned out to be a lot easier than just reading the documentation. The first pass will be confusing and require a lot of double checking. Don't be afraid of it. The game is worth the effort. Once you understand how the game works, it's actually very easy to explain how it works to someone while you're playing with them. I would not recommend that new players start by reading the instructions. The game itself was quite fun. I'm not sure we understand the breadth of choices that make it "super-strategic," but you have some fun directions to follow. Buy portal dice so you can add extra dice to your dice pool every turn? Do you buy "helper" dice to reroll some dice from your pool that you don't like? Buy big evil monsters to destroy people? Buy monsters with special abilities that work well with other available spells/monsters? etc. etc. It was all a bit of fun for us in the evening and a real hit with our playgroup. It scores well on the "entertainment at what price versus the cost of a movie ticket" scale.
