I needed a thermometer for stove top cooked sweets and it works for both sweets and meat. I can create a system where I use a box a few inches taller than my pot, wire a thermometer to a wooden spoon, and place the spoon with the thermometer attached on top of the box so that the thermometer is perpendicular to it stands. pot and at a level that does not touch the bottom of the pot but is deep enough into the simmering caramel mixture to get an accurate temperature reading. Now that the pot is simmering, I can use a wireless remote control to sit in another room and monitor the temperature without having to hover over the stove. I have used the thermometer frequently for 6 months and have had no problems with any part of the set. I'm finding more and more uses for it since I finally got used to having a temperature sensor for whatever I'm cooking on the stovetop or in the oven. I love this thing, although I never realized how much I needed this type of setup before. It spoils me a little!
